To apply for a gun permit
go to www.in.gov/isp
Go to the firearms section and follow the prompts. Complete the application on line and set up an appointment to have your fingerprints done electronically.
Once your fingerprints are complete go to your local police department to finish your application. (You must bring your fingerprint receipt with you.) If you have a county address, come to the sheriff’s office. If you live within the city limits of Gentryville, Chrisney, Dale or Santa Claus, you must go to the Town Marshall of that city. If you live in the city of Rockport, you must go to the Rockport Police Department.
Sheriff’s Office will only accept cash for payment:
4 year permit = $10.00
Lifetime Permit = $50.00
You must be here no later than 3:30 PM to process your permit.
Sheriff Sales
Sheriff Sales are held in January, March, May, July, September, and November on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.
Sheriff Sales are published in the Spencer County Journal Democrat and are posted in the main lobby of the Sheriff’s office.

In Dept of Revenue Tax Warrants
Can be paid at he Sheriff’s office by cashier’s check, certified check, money order or cash.
We do not accept debit or credit cards.
To Set Up a Payment Plan
First Payment must be 25% of the balance owed. Once you do that, then payments must be made every 3 weeks, lowest amount accepted is $25.00
Accident and Offense Reports
Can be obtained through Administration. The cost is $5.00 per copy. If you are wanting a report mailed or faxed, payment must be received first with the information of where to mail or fax.
Time frame for these reports are usually 3-5 business days, but it depends on when the officer receives all of the information to complete them.
